Michael Teare is an active instrumental music teacher at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, IL. Throughout the course of the last 14 years Michael has taught band, two different levels of class percussion, three different levels of class guitar, beginning piano, music technology, and AP Music Theory. In addition to teaching at Lincoln-Way, he has also adjudicated several solo/ensemble and marching band contests, taught or written/arranged music for Brother Rice High School, Joliet West High School, Lincoln-Way East High School, Lincoln-Way Central High School, Manhattan Junior High School, Maui High School, and Providence Catholic High School. Michael also maintains a moderate gigging calendar with classic rock bands throughout the south suburban Chicagoland area.
Michael is originally from Frankfort, Illinois, and graduated from Elmhurst College in 2002 with a degree in Music Education. While at Elmhurst, Michael served as percussion section leader and student conductor of the Wind Ensemble. Shortly after graduation, Teare accepted a temporary adjunct faculty position as a percussion instructor at the college before coming to the Lincoln-Way Community High School District.
During his time at Lincoln-Way East, Teare has completed graduate credit in Music Education at Northwestern University, earned a Masters Degree in School Leadership at Concordia University, and a Masters Degree in Reading Education at Olivet Nazarene University.
